Missions & Service

Serving others is an important part of our Christian life.

These projects are some of the many ways we are in mission in San Diego and around the world.

SERVING LOCALLY

There are many opportunities to get involved in our local mission work. Volunteers at Loaves & Fishes food ministry collect food, prepare and distribute food to families in need. Read to children at local schools, prepare and serve meals and much more.
HOW TO GET INVOLVED

COMMITMENT TO GLOBAL MISSION

First Church is currently supporting four Covenant Missionaries through prayers and financial gifts: Cambodia, Tanzania, Israel/Palestine and the US/Mexico border region.

MISSION TRIPS

If you feel the call to do more there are many opportunities awaiting...

Mission trips can take you to areas in need of rebuild within the United States, across the border to Mexico, or to far-away countries, where you may help to build homes, schools or give support women's, men's and children's ministries. You may serve alongside a missionary stationed in the area or with local churches.

First Church currently partners with these missions organizations:

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR).  There work includes programs and projects in disaster response, health, sustainable agriculture, food security, relief supplies, and more.

YUGO is an international missions organization that arranges annual short-term mission trips to Ensenada Mexico, where you work alongside local churches, helping to build homes, run children's programs, serve in feeding ministries and more.
