Beckett Kirk began attending First UMC in 2003, while working on the construction of Petco Park in downtown San Diego. After much prayer and involvement with the church community, he became a member in 2005. After meeting with prayer warrior, Rev. Mary Allman-Bolye, Beckett heard the call to work in the church and joined the staff, part time in 2008. The following 8 years he served as Small Group Assistant. In April 2016, through an act of grace, he became the Director of Small Groups and Programs.
Looking at Beckett it may not appear that his life has been changed by Jesus and the Church, however, he maintains that transformation of his heart and life have occurred. He praises God for the many gifts in his life. He feels “beyond blessed” to have met and marry Kristena Kirk at First UMC. He celebrates with the deepest joy, the 3 children with which he spends his free time. On occasion, you may find him dancing, refereeing a soccer match, or score-keeping a baseball game.
Beckett’s personal relationship with Jesus and the Church have him currently working on Small Groups, Hospitality, Bulk Mailings, the Alpha Course, and Stories of our members’ faith.
Beckett is very grateful for the grace that he has received as a member and staff person at First Church. His door is open and hopes to help connect our worshiping attendance with the Holy Spirit and each other.
