Pastor Joshua Clough is in his first year as a **Path 1 Resident Church Planter at First Church.

When Joshua was young he recognized the grace of God in his life. On the way home from school one afternoon his grandmother pulled the car to the side of the road and asked him, “do you want to follow Jesus.” He answered, “Yes!” And, this decision has influenced the entirety of his life. A graduate of Willamette University (B.A. in Sociology/Ethnic Studies) and The Theological School at Drew University (M.Div.) Joshua harbors a lifelong passion for faith and justice. Throughout his ministry he has worked in communities in El Salvador, Haiti, India, Canada, and served churches in New Jersey, Hawaii, and California. These experiences have inspired his teaching and preaching as well as his heart for leading the next generations of Christ-followers.

Born and raised in the Seattle area of the Pacific Northwest Joshua is an avid runner, he competed at the collegiate level, and he continues to run throughout the neighborhoods of San Diego. He also enjoys watching and/or competing in every type of sport or outdoor activity as well as reading and writing. Joshua recently married his wife, Claire, whom he met while they were both students in seminary.

**Path 1 is a church planting movement of The United Methodist Church, committed to encouraging and supporting the next generation of church planters. Young leaders are critical to our mission to reach the growing number of unchurched people in the world and to stay relevant to the changing trends and needs of the world. In accordance with that commitment, the United Methodist Church provides residencies for young adults who feel called to plant new churches.
