This season's Midday Pipes organ series at First United Methodist Church of San Diego will be both in-person in the Sanctuary and online, live-streamed and available on YouTube.

All concerts will begin at 12:15 PM and can be accessed at fumcsd.org/watch-live or at First Church YouTube Channel on the second Wednesday of the month from September through June.  We invite you to enjoy this beautiful organ music played by distinguished musicians on the 108-rank, 4-manual Blackinton & Associates pipe organ, the largest in San Diego County. The series is sponsored by the First Church Cultural Events Committee, and each performance will be approximately 45 minutes long.

Yoojung Chung earned a Bachelor of Music in Organ Performance and Church Music at Yonsei University under Professor Myung-Ja Cho, and Master of Music in Organ Performance and Church Music at Northwestern University under Professor Douglas Cleveland, earning the Kenneth G. and Helen C. Merrill Scholarship. Then, she continued to pursue her Doctoral of Musical Arts degree at Indiana University under Marilyn Keiser. After completing her first year, she moved to Southern California due to her husband’s job relocation.

Yoojung resides in the Ontario Ranch area, and she is active accompanist and private piano instructor. She has served as organist at Westwood UMC and Anaheim UMC in California and other churches in New York, Illinois, and Indiana. Also, she worked as piano accompanist and adjunct faculty member at Saddleback College in Mission Viejo and Concordia University in Irvine. She is an active member of American Guild of Organist and Music Teachers’ Association of California Orange County Branch where she served as Board member.
